Ramblings...

Today I was walking the stacks of a library and discovered this gem. 1930 edition, Russian language, Rockwell Kent, Random House, stamped: printed in the USSR. All I could say was wow, wow, wow. I have no idea how many were printed, I have never seen a listing for it. LG's comment: "Holy S#*T" when I sent her the picture.

Also, over at Ahab Beckons, Gansevoort pointed me to an edition I dont have.

So many editions, so much time!

    I'm from Russia and I'm a great fan of Melville. I have three editions of "Moby Dick" in Russian but I know that there are some others. This one is the best. By the way, you can see on the 4th page that this is translation from Herman Melville's "Moby Dick, or the White Whale". :)
